Buy Local for Cleaner Air
Buying locally made and grown products helps air quality and can save you money. According to the World Watch Institute, the average food item in America now travels an average of almost 1,500 miles from farm to fork. Reducing those food miles cuts food costs and air pollution.
With spring in full swing, now is the time to start looking for locally grown food at farmers' markets around the state. In Kentucky we are blessed with an abundance of local vegetables, fruits, meats, cheeses and more. Flowers, soaps and other artisan products like furniture can also often be found at your local farmers' market. In addition to keeping our air cleaner, buying local supports Kentucky’s economy.
