Air Quality Index for Kids! - U.S. EPA and your state environmental agency measure pollution in the air. Then they use the Air Quality Index, or AQI, to tell the people about the air. An index can be a quick way to tell people how good or bad something is. The AQI uses colors, numbers and words to tell you about the air.
EPA's Environmental Explorers' Club - Welcome to the Explorers Club -- U.S. EPA's Web site for kids. Get ready to explore your environment and learn about neat things you can do to protect it. There are games, pictures, stories and other fun things.
EPA's Kids Fish Web site -- EPA's National Fish Advisory Program released a Fish Kids Web site, a fun Web site that uses interactive stories and games to teach kids ages 8-12 about contaminants in fish and fish advisories.
Middle School Acid Rain Lesson Plan - The National Park Service Air Resources Division, in an effort to increase the public's awareness of air quality issues, has developed a series of five activities for elementary and secondary schools. The activities are for grades six through eight and help teach students about acid rain. The lesson plan was prepared as a part of The Uplands Field Research Laboratory, Volunteer in Parks and Interpretation of Science Project. Funding was provided by the Great Smoky Mountains Natural History Association.

Kids C.A.V.E. - Virginia Department of Environmental Quality's Web site has fun and educational pages for students related to air quality. It also contains interesting air lessons for teachers as well as links to other related sites.

Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids - Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids is a service of the Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO). Ben's Guide serves as the educational component of GPO Access, GPO's service to provide the official online version of legislative and regulatory information. This site provides learning tools for K-12 students, parents and teachers. These resources will teach how our government works, the use of the primary source materials of GPO Access, and how one can use GPO Access to carry out their civic responsibilities. And, just as GPO Access provides locator services to U.S. Government sites, Ben's Guide provides a similar service to U.S. Government Web sites developed for kids.
