Source Sampling Section

The Source Sampling Section of the Technical Services Branch is responsible for tests performed on air pollution sources to determine compliance with air emission standards.

This is an image of stack for source testing.

  • The Source Testing staff climb smokestacks to observe that proper test methods and procedures are used when measuring the amount of pollution coming out of a stack.
  • The Source Testing staff (with the Quality Assurance staff) operate a smoke generator every six months to provide training and certification to state air inspectors and representatives from various industries.
  • The Source Testing staff collects data from air pollution sources that is generated by air monitors that measure the amount of pollution that is coming out of a stack.
