Information about Freon, certification and training.

This is a federal program administered by the U.S. EPA’s Stratospheric Protection Division. They have responsibility for all reported illegal use and abuse of Freon products.  Additionally they manage certification of training programs and issuing licenses.  Questions should be directed to the Ozone Protection Hotline by calling toll free 800-296-1996 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday EST.

Technicians installing or performing repairs on any HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) equipment MUST be state certified by the Division of Building Codes Enforcement.   Call 502-573-0364, ext. 133.
